-- Alabama's path to the Super Six will start in the semifinal of national champions.
The Crimson Tide, , will be joined by defending national champion Florida, nine-time champion Utah, six-time champion UCLA, Nebraska and Penn State during the second session (7 p.m.) of the April 18 NCAA Championship semifinals at Birmingham's BJCC Arena.
The other semifinal (1 p.m.) features just one team that's won it all, 10-time champion Georgia. The Bulldogs are joined by Michigan, LSU, Stanford, Oklahoma and Illinois.
The top three teams from each semifinal advance to the April 19 Super Six (6 p.m.).
Alabama, which is eyeing its seventh national championship, notched the second-best score of any team at an NCAA Regional with the 197.550 it posted in Seattle. The Crimson Tide, which edged Florida at last month's SEC Championships in Birmingham, finished with the fourth-best regional qualifying score. Among the five other teams in Alabama's semifinal, only the No. 1 Gators' was better.
Utah finished fifth, UCLA was No. 8, Nebraska was No. 9 and Penn State was No. 15.
Alabama has advanced to the Super Six 19 times since the format was instituted in 1993.
