There is certainly no doubt it is winter with the above average snowfall and extremes in temperature, with negative wind chills and early spring warmth within the same week. It is anticipating the Super Bowl party time and starting to watch those college basketball teams so you can fill out our March Madness brackets. It is sitting by the fire, cuddled in out Snuggie maybe crocheting or knitting a cozy afghan or working on a quilt. Maybe you are working on Valentine Day cards with our children. Without a doubt you are already over this particularly difficult winter and probably starting to experience the wall closing in feelings of cabin fever.
Well, even with only a week left in January, winter is here to stay for awhile, but maybe you can do something about your cabin fever with a little crafting activity. Possibilities include some bargain hunting, some bead frenzy and a little bit of helping Warm up America.
If you have not heard, yet another craft store is closing. After a year of extreme efforts to adjust to a changing and challenging economy, and the increasing impact of technology on the memory book industry, Archivers is going out of business. Apparently it is going to be a brief sale. Discounts, which only started on January 6 are already at 40% storewide, including off already reduced merchandise. It is an opportunity to work on your craft room as well, since all the fixtures are also available.

Not in to paper crafts or beading? Michaels Arts and Crafts is offering a great opportunity to get out with like minded crafters while still helping warm up others. On Saturday January 25, 2014 (1-4 PM) they are holding a Warm up America joining party to make blankets to be donated to the less fortunate. Not familiar with Warm up America you can check out their website at http://www.warmupamerica.org/. If you have never been involved with shared community crafting this may be a good opportunity for you. All local Michael's stores are participating in this event.
So cross your fingers that the snow will not be as bad as predicted so you can ease that cabin fever with some craft therapy. Stay warm and happy crafting.
