The science fiction genre is both a popular genre for books to TV shows. Throughout the years there have been some very cool and interesting shows out there and here are five that you can stream on Netflix right now:

1. "Star Trek: The Original Series"

While Netflix has the other "Star Trek" shows too, you just can't go wrong with the original series especially because of the great cast. The originals Spock, Uhura, McCoy, Kirk, Sulu, Scotty, and Chekhov are all there! Oh and for a bonus Netflix has the pilot episode with Jeffrey Hunter.

2. "Battlestar Galactica"

The 1970s version is on there too as is the 2000s version. When Syfy aired the 2000s version it was quite popular. At the moment IMDb gives it a rating of 8.8 from users votes. Anyway you can rewatch or watch for the first time thanks to Netflix. There are four seasons.

3. "Fringe"

"Fringe," was another hit sci-fi show on FOX from 2008 to 2012. For those who miss the show can watch the five seasons and for those who missed it on TV, well here's your chance.

4. "Doctor Who" which Netflix has them separated so "Doctor Who" & "Classic Doctor Who"

Netflix has 6 collections starting with 2005 and ending with 2011, so Whovians can watch Christopher Eccleston to some of Matt Smith's episodes. Now Classic Doctor Who has 18 collections that explores the years to 1964 to 1989. So both of these on Netflix, will keep any fan of Doctor Who busy!

5. "Red Dwarf"

Growing up on this show, I can't leave it out. This British comedic show looked at space travel with a sense of humor. If you missed out on this one, check it out. It started in the late 80s and Netflix has 9 collections of it, which each collection is about six (sometimes more or less) episodes each.

So those are just five sci-fi shows that can be screened for streaming on Netflix. So happy watching!
