Pop singer Britney Spears covered Madonna's '80s classic "Burning Up" live in 2011 and the full demo finally surfaced on Monday (March 31). Spears mostly sticks with the magic of original but mixes in a little dubstep production.
Since breaking out in 1998, Britney has called Madonna one of her main music idols. Madonna's influence on Britney goes way back to her very first tour where she covered "Material Girl" as part of an '80s medley. Spears later took on the Queen of Pop's music again in 2011 on The Femme Fatale Tour. She straddled a massive guitar while singing "Burning Up" from Madonna's self-titled debut.
Spears recorded a demo of "Burning Up" in 2011 for The Femme Fatale Tour. Around the same time, a fan-made mix with her version of the track circulated online. Fast forward a few years and now the original demo is out. Madonna's '80s feel is kept intact on Britney's cover. She does her best to mimic Madge's early vocals in an attitude-packed performance. The classic tune is also updated nicely with some dubstep production. Spears reignites the fiery passion behind Madonna's "Burning Up" with her cute rendition.
Spears' most recent album "Britney Jean" was released in December and it peaked at no. 4 on Billboard's albums chart. She is currently based in Las Vegas for a live show residency at Planet Hollywood's AXIS Theater.
