One of the latest additions to Denver’s dining scene is Atticus, a casual restaurant that serves rustic comfort food with a contemporary global twist and a focus on locally sourced ingredients. Named after Atticus from To Kill a Mockingbird, the restaurant is full of rustic-inspired details like Aspen wood paneling, original brick and classic books and board games. The intimate spot seats only 64 people and features a cozy fireplace and bar made from timbers of old Stapleton airplane hangers.
“Atticus will be a welcoming space that will make a perfect spot for working breakfasts, lunches, after work cocktails and lingering dinners,” said Brian Midtbo of Table to Tavern, the company behind the new restaurant.
Atticus is located right next to another Table To Tavern establishment, the popular sports bar Boone’s Tavern. The group is also known for their other restaurants, including Table 6 and Handlebar Tavern.
With Atticus, the Table to Tavern wanted to create a welcoming restaurant that serves three meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) along with cocktails, beer and wine.
Whether you’re looking for a coffee shop-like atmosphere where you can set up with a laptop, a happy hour spot or a relaxed dining experience with friends, Atticus caters to all. They also offer a grab-n-go menu so you can take their delicious and homemade food to go when you’re in a rush.
Speaking of that delicious food, the bistro-style menu at Atticus focuses on small yet satisfying portions at accessible prices. Each dish is carefully thought out by chef Robert Alfaro, formerly of Toast and LoHi Steakbar. One of his top recommendations is the Grilled Hangar Steak, which for comes with cherry whiskey butter, roasted red potatoes and pork belly brussels. Another popular option is the Wild Boar Chili () with garam masala, served with toasted pita chips and Mussels & Frites ( for a half order, for a full) in a tomato saffron broth.
The drink menu heavily features spirits from local distilleries, and the old world-inspired libation offerings include a Breck Cherry Oatmeal and a Gin Smuggler, made with Spring 44 gin, fresh lemon, spiced honey syrups, bitters and apple ciders. The wine list is curated by Table 6’s Aaron Forman, who is known as one of Denver’s most adventurous sommeliers. And of course, Atticus will serve up plenty of local Colorado beer.
Atticus is located at 1115 East Evans Avenue in Denver. The restaurant’s phone number is (720) 459-8273.
